पत्तियां एकान्तर पिच्छाकार होती हैं और 3 से 7 पर्णको से युक्त होती है। ये 8-12 से.मी. लम्बी, 4-6 से.मी. चौड़ी, चीमड़, आयतरूप दीर्घवृत्ताकार से लेकर भालाकार, अरोमिल और ऊपर से चमकदार गहरे हरे रंग की होती हैं। पत्तियाँ अपने तरूण वृध्दि के बहारों में सुन्दर रक्ताभ कांस्य रंग रखने की प्रवृत्ति रखती हैं।
यह एक ओजपूर्ण सदापर्णी बहु वर्षी वृक्ष है जो विस्तृत शिखर फैलनेवाली शाखाओं और संयुक्त पत्तियों से युक्त सघन हरे रंग के चमकने वाले पर्णसमूह के साथ,5 मीटर से अधिक ऊँचाई प्राप्त करता है। पुष्प,पुष्पगुच्छों के रूप में लगते हैं।
Pit of size 1 m3 are dug in the month of May. These pits are refilled after 150 days of digging with top soil mixed with FYM (20-25 kg), SSP (1 kg) and MOP (500 g). After refilling, the pits are immediately watered to set this mixture if rains do not occur.
Litchi trees are usually planted in a square system at 8-10 m. But in region where the spread of tree is large, it is advisable to space the plants preferably 10 m apart. In high density planting spacing is 5x5 m.
Proper packing of fruits is also important in maintaining freshness and quality and preventing fruit decay during transport for marketing to distant places. Hence, before the fruits are sent to market, these should be packed properly. In packing litchi fruit, the two important requirements are:
