      For the production of sugarcane seed, sugarcane breeding results in production of true sugarcane seed "Fluff" which requires fast multiplication for field testing. Tissue culture technique may help in fast multiplication of cause and may provide following benefits.

Ring/pit method of planting

Ring planting (90x45 cm) system increased the crop yield up to 180 t/ha at IISR. In each ring (pit) about 22 three budded setts are placed horizontally in a circular manner. The crop under ring planting consists mainly of mother shoots which are thicker and heavier.

 

Recovery in Sugarcane

Planting Seasons of Sugarcane

 

The duration of sugarcane crop in India ranges from10-18 months. A 12 months crop is most common. Time of planting is governed by weather conditions. Sugarcane requires about 25-32⁰ C temperature for good germination. Spring  and autumn plantings are two important planting seasons.
