Alternaria Blight
General
- Caused by Alternaria alternata/ A.tenuissima.
- Cause problems in late-sown crops.
- Sporulates well under warm, humid conditions.
Symptoms
- Small, circular, necrotic spots on leaves (Fig.99) forming typical concentric rings.
- The lesions appear on all aerial plant parts including pods.
- Blighting of leaves and severe defoliation and drying of infected branches.
Management
- Select fields away from perennial pigeonpeas.
- Select seed from healthy crops.
- Maneb 3g per liter of water is effective.
