Chemical Control of American Boll Worm in Cotton
- Use 5% neem seed kernel extract (NSKE) from 45th day of crop stage.
- Profenophos 50 EC @ 2.0 ml/ l OR thiodicarb 75 WP @ 1.0 g/l OR methomyl 40 SP @ 0.6 g/l can be used as ovicidal spray.
- The following insecticides are effective against larval stage: Indoxacarb 14.5 SC @ 0.5 ml/l OR Spinosad 48 SC @ 0.2 ml/l OR Emamectin benzoate 5 SG @ 0.25 g/l OR Thiodicarb 70 WP @ 1g/l or nuvaluron 1 ml/l or flubendamide 20 SG @ 2 g/l or Profenophos 50 EC @ 2 ml/l
- Pyrethroids can be sprayed at 100 days after sowing of the crop.
- Avoid repeated use of same group of insecticides. Synthetic pyrethroids should be restricted and alternatively used in combination with conventional insecticides.
- An ideal way to tackle the pest is to follow the IPM programme.
