What to do:
- Use quality seed of the variety
- Use newly released high yielding varieties recommended for the area
- Procure seed from authentic sources
- Always treat the seed with fungicide first (2-3 days in advance) and then with Rhizobium culture
- Use recommended dose of fertilizer and micronutrients as per need
- Adhere to appropriate time of sowing and seed rate
- Adopt line sowing/ridge furrow method/raised bed method as per need
- Pre mergence application of Pendimethaline (with in 6-3 hours of sowing)
- Irrigate the crop to avoid moisture stress/frost damage
- Spray 2% Urea/DAP solution in rainfed areas
- Sun drying of grains before bagging/storage
What not to do
- Don't use damaged seed and traditional varieties
- 1Don't broad caste the seed
- Avoid direct contact of seed and fertilizer
- Don't treat the seed with fungicide and Rhizobium simultaneously
- Don't spray pendimethaline on dry soil
- Never flood the field and don't irrigated chickpea at time of flowering
- Don't put bird perches in the field at the time of grain formation
