Harvesting Chickpea

Harvesting

The crop is harvested when leaves start drying and shedding.

The plants are harvested at the base by manual labor, using a sickle or by using a combine harvester.

After harvest, the plants are carried to a drying area to dry in the sun for a few days. Threshing is done either by beating the plants with sticks or trampled by bullocks or with a thresher.
