Use of organic manures:  Farm Yard Manure (FYM) or Compost : 2.4 to 3 t/ac

Recommended dose of fertilizers for Northern Karnataka

Chemical fertilizers	Dose
Nitrogen	10 kg/ac
Phosphorus	20 kg/ac
Potash (for red soil)	10 kg/ac
Sulphur	8 kg/ac
Zinc sulphate	6 kg/ac
Sodium molybdate	24 kg/ac

Note:

• At 20-25 DAS incorporate Zinc sulphate (ZnSO4) and powdered FYM in 1:1 ratio into the soil.
• If a basal fertilizer is excluded from Sulphur, then apply Gypsum @ 60 kg/ac which supplies 8 kg of Sulphur.

Use of Bio-fertilizers 

• Rhizobium:   200 g/ac                                                                     
• Phosphate solubilizing bacteria:  200g/ac
