Causal Organism or agent : Ustilago segatum tritici

Chief symptoms: The ears, except their rachis are converted into black powder which is a mass of olive brown spores of the fungus

Control measures:

• Use certified seeds
• If using own seed treat with Vitavex 75WP, Bavision 50 [email protected]/kg or raxil [email protected]/kg seed before sowing.
