A new variety of rice 'GAR-1' similar to 'Basmati' in aroma
Gujarat-based Anand Agriculture University (AAU) has developed a new variety of rice called, GAR-1 which is similar to 'Basmati' in aroma and superior grain quality and has shorter maturity period of 125-130 days with double the yield as compared to the national average of 2.5 tonnes per hectare. GAR-1 is considered ideal for sowing in Central and South Gujarat.
