Phosphorus Deficiency Symptoms

There will be greater demand for phosphorus during the very early stages of crop growth. Hence, phosphorus deficiency symptoms are more pronounced in young plants.
Therefore, the plants should be examined for phosphorus deficiency during the early stages of crop growth. Mild deficiencies of phosphorus are usually characterized by stunted growth of plants with no very clear-cut leaf symptoms.

More severe deficiencies result in dark green leaves with a leathery texture, and reddish purple leaf tips and margins
