Powdery mildew- Fungal disease of wheat

Powdery Mildew

 Causal Organism or agent: Erysiphe graminis tritici  

Chief symptoms: The first visible symptoms are white to pale gray, fuzzy or powdery colonies of mycelia and conidia on the upper surfaces of leaves and leaf sheaths and sometimes on spikes. Older fungal colonies are yellowish gray 

Control measures:

  • Use wheat varieties for that particular zone
  • Spray karathane 80WP 1kg or Bayleton 500gm/ha in 1000 litres of water at the appearance of first symptoms.
