Stem - marphology of rice

Stems

  • The rice stem or culm is hollow and is made up of nodes and internode.
  • Each node bears a leaf and a bud, which may grow into a shoot or tiller.
  • Primary tillers grow out of main culm in alternate order.
  • Tillering continues during the vegetative growth (upto 60 days after transplanting).
