Wart Disease

Causal Organism: Synchutrium endobioticum
Symptoms:

1. Appearance of tumors or warts on tubers, stems and stolons of the potato plant.
2. Sometimes whole tuber is converted into a distorted mass.
3. They are also characterized by the production of motile zoospores and resting sporangia; the plant-pathogenic species are all biotrophs that are restricted to the cells of their host.

 

             

 

Control Measures:

1. Wart affected tubers should not be planted.
2. Grow wart resistant varieties like Kufri Kanchan, Kufri Jyoti.
