White Grub

Symptoms: The damage is done mainly by the grubs which remain in the soil. They damage the plant by feeding on the under ground portion viz. roots, stems and tubers. The grub in the early stage feed on the roots with the result the plants dry up. Later on when tubers are developed, the grubs cut holes in the tubers. The market value of such tubers is very much reduced.

Control Measures

• Apply Phorate 10% granules at the rate of 10 kg per hectare or Carbofuran 3% granules at the rate of 30 kg per hectare at the time of sowing and mix it properly in the soil.
