Scientific Name: Anagallis arvensis L.
Description The leaves are oval, stalkless, pointed and are in pairs. The flowers are solitary having different shades of colour ranging from blue to red but bright blue flowers are most common. Fruit is capsule with circumsesile dehiscence and seeds are dispersed at maturity. The propagation is through seeds. It is not crop bound weed it can infest moist non-cropped land.
Control Measures Apply Pendimethylene(stomp 30EC) @1.0 kg a.i. per ha as pre-emergence spray(0-3 days after sowing) with 500-750 litres of water . It can be controlled as post-emergence spray of 2, 4-D (ethyl ester)@0.4 kg with 500-750 litres of water at 32-35 days after sowing of crop.
