Common Name: Pimpernel Scientific Name: Anagallis arvensis L. Description
- The leaves are oval, stalkless, pointed and are in pairs.
- The flowers are solitary having different shades of colour ranging from blue to red but bright blue flowers are most common.
- Fruit is capsule with circumsesile dehiscence and seeds are dispersed at maturity.
- The propagation is through seeds.
- It is not crop bound weed it can infest moist non-cropped land.
Control Measures
- Apply Pendimethylene(stomp 30EC) @1.0 kg a.i. per ha as pre-emergence spray(0-3 days after sowing) with 500-750 litres of water .
- It can be controlled as post-emergence spray of 2, 4-D (ethyl ester)@0.4 kg with 500-750 litres of water at 32-35 days after sowing of crop.
