Soil and moisture conservation

When safflower is raised as a monocrop on stored soil moisture, soil and moisture conservation becomes very important. 

Cycocel

Under rainfed conditions, spray cycocel @ 500 ppm at flower initiation to get 8 to 10% higher seed yield and returns from safflower. Use about 300 litres of spray solution per hectare.

Irrigation

Under scanty moisture conditions in drylands, yield can be boosted by 40 to 60% by providing just one life saving irrigation at critical phases of crop growth (early stem elongation to flowering) of before soil moisture becomes limiting for crop growth.
