Varieties and season

Canal irrigated area (Zone 6 and parts of 4^th zone)
Zone 6 include Krishnarajasagar catchment area (parts of Mandya, Mysore Districts and zone 4 include Vanivilas and Bhadra catchment area (Hiriyur and Davangere).
Two crops can be taken in a year (kharif & summer crop).

Transplanting is carried when the tanks are filled with rain water in August-September.
