Red spider mites occasionally cause damage to groundnut. Semi spreading types of groundnut are more infested by mites than the bunchy types
Appearance:
Red colored oval shaped minute insects.
Adult
Life cycle: Adults lay eggs on the underside of the leaves. The life cycle is completed in 15 days.
Nature of damage: Nymphs and adults suck sap from the underside of the leaves.
Damage symptoms:
- Whitish leaves and fine webbing appear, mainly on the underside of the leaves.
- Ultimately the plant withers and dies.
